SMSUA Holds Tilawah Al-Quran Competition

Bandar Seri Begawan - Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School held the final competition for Tilawah Al-Quran yesterday in conjunction, with Maulidul Rasul.

It aimed to foster the students' interests in al-Quran reading, produce a generation who possesses good moral values based on al-Quran teachings, and to create a healthy competition amongst the students.

Eight competitors recited selected versus from the Holy Quran. The Qari winner was Awg Yusri bin Farid who scored 86 per cent. The Qariah winner, Dyg Yumni Haziqah binti Mohammad, obtained 89 per cent.

The guest of honour, Dyg Hjh Fatimah binti Hj Abdul Ghani, Assistant Director, Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs, presented the prizes to the winners.

The school-principal Cikgu Hj Jumaat bin Salleh, delivered a speech and presented a souvenir to the chief guest. Teachers, parents and students also attended.
