Singapore Delegation Briefed On
BEDB Goals

Begawan - Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) yesterday
briefed a group of 33 officials from the Singapore Civil Service on
Brunei's efforts to create new economic opportunities.
The delegation led by the Director
of the National Security Coordination Centre, Lee Ark Boon, is
visiting Brunei as part of the programme for the 271h leadership
development foundation course organised by the Institute of Policy
Development (IPD) in Singapore.
The main objective is to facilitate
interaction between the participants and their counterparts in
Brunei in the hopes of helping to create better understanding of the
culture and working environment in Brunei.
The briefing, which took place at
the iCentre in Anggerek Desa, began with welcoming remarks by Dato
Paduka Timothy Ong, Acting Chairman of BEDB.
The briefing aimed to provide the
visiting delegation with a useful insight into how the BEDB fits
into the scheme of Brunei's economic goals, and how it coordinates
its diversification strategy with other Brunei government agencies
in the pursuit of its objectives. It was later followed by a
question-and-answer session.
The delegation comprised officials
from the Prime Minister's Office; Ministry of Trade and Industry;
Ministry of Education; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of
Health; Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports;
Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Law; Ministry of Home Affairs;
Ministry of Manpower; Ministry of Information, Communication and
Arts; Public Service Division; Singapore Police Force; Republic of
