King Abdullah II Arriving Today
For State Visit

Begawan - Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of
Jordan are expected to arrive in the Sultanate today for an official
three-day State Visit.

Brunei and Jordan have long enjoyed
cordial relations. This will be further strengthened by King
Abdullah's visit to Brunei.
His Majesty King Abdullah II
was in Brunei in February 2004 for talks on trade and investment
between the two countries. In March 2006, King Abdullah was in
the country on a private visit.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang
Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during the visit presented the
Special Combat Squadron (SCS) Honorary Badge and Beret to His
Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan in a ceremony held in the
jungle of the Temburong District shortly after witnessing
military training by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
During the State Visit, both
King Abdullah II and Queen Rania are expected to visit |

several interesting places in the
country. A banquet in honour of Their Majesties is scheduled to
be held tonight. |
Brunei Darussalam and Jordan
established diplomatic relations in 1984. Brunei has its mission in
Amman, the capital of Jordan.
In March 2006, the Brunei
Investment Agency bought a 37 per cent stake in Jordan Phosphate
Mines Company (JPMC), the sixth biggest phosphates producer in the
world. Both countries are members of several organisations,
including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic
