Local Paraglider Soars High In Selangor Competition By Mohammad Abdullah

Bandar Seri Begawan - Local Siti Khadijah Haji Ismail, 41, beat more experienced paraglideis to snatch the top spot in the women's category of the Jugra International Paragliding Sport Landing Competition, held in Selangor, Malaysia recently.

Siti Khadijah landed just 44 inches off the centre to claim the title.

Her husband Junaidi Haji Jumaat, 43, came in 16th place in the men's category.

"I'm very proud that at least one of us is able to take a trophy home with us," Junaidi said.

Fifty paragliders from all over the world, including Saudi Arabia and Korea, took part in the competition, which was held at Jugra Hill, some 380 metres above sea level.

This was the third international meet that the local couple had represented Brunei Darussalam.

According to Junaidi, the duo will again represent the country in the upcoming event in Surabaya, Indonesia. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
