Women’s Bureau Of ESABD’s Competition

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Women's Bureau of the Ex-Soldier's Association of Brunei Darussalam (ESABD) yesterday held its fourth annual food preparation/cooking and flower arranging competition (Pertandingan Urusan Rumahtangga) at the Teratak Perwira, Bolkiah Garrison.

The competition was divided into .seven categories; the Daily Food Menu, Special Food Menu, Traditional Cakes, Modern Cakes, `Ambuyat' Set Menu, Fruit Arrangement and Flower Arrangement in which the first place winners were; Hjh Bungsu Hj Salleh, Datin Hjh Norazni Hj Ahmed Ytmos, Hjh Khadijah HA Rahman, Hjh Norfatiniwati Hj Muhammad, Hjh Habibah Hj Metali, Hjh Norsiah Basir and Hjh Sadiah Hj Muhammad respectively.

Guest of Honour was the wife of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Hjh Saidah bte Hj Mohd Said.

The event began with a welcoming speech by the Chairperson of Women's Bureau, Datin Hjh Hashum bte Hj Zainal Abidin, followed by the presentation of prizes by the guest of honour to winners of the competition.

Datin Hjh Saidah then consented to view an exhibition of the various food items, flowers and fruits that were in the competition. According to a member of the Women's Bureau, this fourth annual event was also held in conjunction with the 16th anniversary of the establishment of the Ex-Soldier's Association of Brunei Darussalam and one of the aims of organising this kind of events is to further strengthen ties among its members. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
