Husband &, Wife Leave For
Paragliding Contest
By Mohammad Abdullah
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Husband and wife team Junaidi Hj Jumat and Siti
Khadijah Hj Ismail, two of Brunei's paragliding pilots left for the
3rd Annual Jugra International Paragliding Sport Landing
competition in Selangor, Malaysia yesterday.
The three-day competition will be held at Jugra Hill in Banting
Selangor from May 2 to 4, 2008. The competition has drawn
international participants from around the world. Some of them are
expert sport landers.
The Brunei Paragliding team has joined the competition for the
second time since last year.
JugraHill is approximately 380 metres
above sea level, hence the landing is basically a speck when seen
from above.
For maximum points, paragliders must land their feet on a circle
about the size of a dinner plate.
This is quite a feat as it is very difficult to do especially
when taking off from a few hundred feet up in the air.
"We will try our best in the competition. Last year was our first
participation and we were not prepared. This year we are more
prepared and better equipped in the hope that we will get a better
standing than we did last year," said Junaidi. -- Courtesy of Borneo
