Brunei 50th Member Of TWIF

Begawan - Negara Brunei Darussalam was officially accepted as
the 50th members of Tug-of-War International Federation (TWIF) at the
congress held at Amsterdam, Netherlands recently.
Negara Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-War
Association at the congress was lead by its President Pg Haji Jadid
Pg Haji Omar Ali and Deputy President Dr Chan Hiang Heng @ Chan Sui
Kiat and other four officials.
The meeting, which was attended by
23 countries, was chaired by the President of TWIF Mr Mc Keever.
Member countries had voted and accepted the participation of Negara
Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-war Association as the 50th members of TWIF.
At the congress, the delegation
from Negara Brunei Darussalam gave a video presentation on the
activities of the country's traditional tug-of-war sport that have
been held in the country since the early 60's until now. Members of
the congress were also briefed on the formation of the association's
achievements and progress.
Pg Hj Md Iskandar Shah said before
attending the congress, the delegation from Brunei Darussalam also
attended a seminar conducted by TWIF, where participants of the
respective countries voiced out their views on better ways to
develop and promote the sport.
He said that the main objective of
the country's participation at the congress was to join and confirm
the entry of Negara Brunei Darussalam Tug-of-war Association into
the Tug of War International Federation (TWIF) body.
At the same time, the participation
was also aimed at introducing and promoting the country through
tug-of-war sport at an international level, after the association
had successfully organised events at the national and regional
level.
The congress and seminar also acts as a platform to exchange
views, knowledge and experiences with other participating delegation
from other countries especially in terms of the competition's
technique and judging system made by TWIF. -- Courtesy of Borneo
