Brunei Gears Up To Stage Another
Historic Milestone By

Begawan - For many of the 2,000 expected delegates and
participants arriving to the sultanate this following week for
Bridex 2007, it will be their first taste of what Brunei has to
offer.
From the latest information
obtained from the Bridex Secretariat that has now occupied the
International Convention Centre in Berakas, 108 exhibitors from 19
countries will be proudly displaying their latest products and
technologies in a bid to secure contracts and bids in an industry
that is one of the biggest in the world.
The international arms trade
accounts for one trillion dollars annually. USA alone spends over
US$400 billion a year on defence. USA, Russia, France and Britain
are the largest defence contractors in the world.
America will be represented by 12
companies at Bridex, Britain with 11 exhibitors, 16 from France, 13
from Malaysia, 10 from Singapore, five from both Poland and
Australia, four from Canada, three leading companies from Pakistan
and Brunei Darussalam will be represented by 17 local companies.
Some of the prominent international
defence firms such as Boeing, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Defence
Export Services Organisation, General Dynamics, Saab, Thales and
Vosper Thornycraft, MBDA and EADS will be making their presence felt
in Brunei. But as the host, among some of the leading local
companies that will also be representing the best of Brunei at the
ICC, will be QAF, Sri Sentosa, Royal Brunei Airlines, Brunei Tourism
and The Brunei Times.
The first arrivals of international
participants are expected to arrive tomorrow and a special Bridex
immigration lane has been set up at Brunei International Airport.
Muara Port will also be busy.
The final full dress rehearsal for
the military parade will be held on May 29 at the Hassanal Bolkiah
