US Navy Crew Lends Hand To Pusat

Begawan - A group of 25 US Navy crewmembers from the USS
Chung Hoon engaged in community work at Pusat Bahagia, Kg Pulaie
yesterday.
Among the work done included
building a playground, repainting work and building a lawn bowling
field to revamp the area.
The Hawaii-based USS Chung Hoon
commanded by CMDR James Aiken, arrived in Muara Port for a scheduled
port visit last Saturday.
According to CMDR James Aiken, this
was their first visitto Brunei Darussalam. During the visit, they
visited some of the main tourist attractions in the Sultanate such
as the Empire Hotel and Country Club and Muara Beach.
Throughout their four-day visit,
the sailors have met and interacted with the locals and have
experienced local customs and traditions and enjoyed the many
recreational activities offered in Brunei.
The crew will also be carrying out
more community relations projects today to assist in the repair work
of a - house in Kg Menengah, Tutong.
USS Chung Hoon is home ported at
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and has been conducting routine operations in
the Western Pacific as part of the US Seventh Fleet Chung Hoon (DDG
93) is the 43rd ship in the Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) class of Aegis
guided missile destroyers - the US Navy's most powerful destroyer
fleet. DDG 93 is also the 201 Aegis destroyer to be launched and
christened from Northrop Grumman Ship Systems in Pascagoula,
Mississippi.
Constuction of Chung Hoon (DDG93)
began on January 17, 2001 and DDG93's keel was laid on January 14,
2002.
The USS Chung Hoon will be leaving
tomorrow. Their next destination will be the Persian Gulf.-- Courtesy of Borneo
