Fulbright Scholarship Now Accepting Applicants

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Embassy of the United States of America is inviting prospective Brunei candidates (Brunei citizens or permanent residents) to apply for the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship Programme.

Reactivated in 2003 and sponsored by the United States government, the scholarship programme presents a unique opportunity to increase mutual understanding between the people of the US and Brunei.

The award is for advanced students who are preferably in the early or middle stages of their career and who are interested in pursuing a Master's degree programme. The scholarship is for a 1-2 years of study commencing in July/August of 2008. Details are available at http:// brunei.usembassy.gov.

Current Brunei Fulbrighters in the US, Awg Yusra Hj Mohd Salleh and Dyg Vivi Jafiana often share their experiences of studying in the US in the Borneo Bulletin.

Awg Yusra is currently pursuing an MA in Comparative Religion at Arizona State University since 2005. Dyg Vivi Jafiana, the recipient for 2006 meanwhile is currently undertaking an MA in Computer Engineering at Purdue University. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
