Philippine Medal For RBAF Commander

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Pehin Dato Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof, who was on a two-day official visit to the Philippines last week, was conferred the Philippine Legion of Honour (Rank of Commander).

The RBAF Commander's visit to the Philippines was at the invitation of the Philippines' Armed Forces (AFP) Chief of Staff, General Generoso Senga.

The RBAF Commander was accompanied by his wife, Datin Hajah Kalshom binti Haji Suhaili and delegation.

The RBAF Commander also called on Avelino J Cruz Jr, the Philippines' Secretary of National Defence.

Pehin Dato Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi also called on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who conferred the Philippine Legion of Honour (Rank of Commander) on the Commander of RBAF.

The conferring of this prestigious order was in recognition of Pehin Dato Lailaraja Major General Dato, Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi's outstanding contribution in enhancing the bilateral military relationship between the two countries.

Also present at the Conferment Ceremony were Brunei Darussalam's Ambassador to the Philippines, lrfnaleen Abdul Rahman Teo, officials from the Brunei Embassy in the Philippines and senior personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
