It is hoped the competition will give
exposure and experience to the readers and motivate them towards
achieving the aspired performance. It is also the intention to produce
potential, high calibre readers.
This year, the participants are a
combination of experienced, young and talented Quran readers. Hj
Ismail Hj Sulaiman has emerged as champion six times at the national
level and had participated in the international
Quran
reading in Malaysia six times, in 1995, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004 and

Meanwhile the other three readers
have vast potentials.

reading last year.
The theme for this year's competition
is "Assimilating Islam in Enhancing the National Competitiveness".

Brunei made history in 1977 when Awg
Hj Mashod Bin Hj Awg Damit became the winner in the international
Quran reading competition (male category) in Kuala Lumpur.
In 2002, Hjh Aminah Bte Hj Abd Manaf
was the winner in the female category of the international Quran
