Crown Prince Conferred
Distinguished Service Order
Bandar Seri
Begawan - His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah,
the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office
and the Deputy Inspector General of Police yesterday was conferred the
Distinguished Service Order - Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang - by
Singapore President S R Nathan.
Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri
Pengiran Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah was also present to witness the
investiture ceremony. Their Royal Highnesses are currently on a
fiveday official visit to Singapore, RTB reported.
Upon arrival at the Istana, His Royal
Highness consented to receive the salute and inspect the guard of
honour.
The Crown Prince then paid a courtesy
call on the President of Singapore, S R Nathan.
His Royal Highness has been actively
and personally involved in the promotion of close bilateral ties
between the Royal Brunei Police Force and the Singapore Police Force.
The conferment of the Distinguished
Service Order to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince by S R Nathan
took place at the State Room of the Istana.
His Royal Highness is conferred for
his outstanding contribution in fostering close ties and cooperation
between the Royal Brunei Police Force and the Singapore Police Force,
and thereby strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
After the ceremony, Their Royal
Highnesses were hosted to a reception by S R Nathan and Mrs Nathan at
the Istana.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince
was accompanied by Prince Abdul Qawi.
On Sunday, His Royal Highness and Her
Royal Highness began their itineraries soon after arrival in
Singapore.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince
held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home
Affairs Wong Kan Seng. Accompanying His Royal Highness at the meeting
was Prince Abdul Qawi.
Following the meeting, His Royal
Highness the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri
PengiranAnak Isteri consented to attend a dinner, hosted by Wong Kan
Seng and wife. The reception in honour of Their Royal Highnesses'
official visit to the Republic took place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
His Royal Highness was accompanied by
Prince Abdul Qawi.
Among those present were Singapore's
Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Law and Ministry of Home
Affairs, Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee and wife, Singapore's High
Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Joseph Koh and Brunei Darussalam's
High Commissioner to Singapore, Pengiran Dato Haji Yussof bin Pengiran
Kula, as well as senior officers of both countries.
The Crown Prince will also meet other
Singapore leaders such as Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister
Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
Yesterday, the Crown Prince visited
the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority as well as various units of
the Singapore Police Force. A memorandum of understanding will also be
signed between the two police forces to combat transnational crime and
developing police cooperation, Channel News Asia reported. --
