Hj Ibrahim Bags Chairman Cup

Bandar Seri Begawan - Hj Ibrahim Hj Ismail emerged as champion in the Chairman Trophy 2005 at RBA Golf Club yesterday.

Hj Ibrahim topped the other senior golfers and claimed the overall nett winner with a score of 68 while Hj Abd Aziz Kassim was the overall gross winner with 78.

Md YussofAbdullah was the nett winner of Division A (age 50-59) with 69 points on count back. Hj Bagol Hj Momin and Hj Rahman Hj Abu came in second and third place respectively. Hj Sulaiman Ahai was the nett winner of Division B (60 and above) as he won by 71 on count back. Barnabas Chia was second and third was Pg Hj Md. Hassan.

One of the novelty prizes, Bulls-eye to hole no. 5, sponsored by HT Tire Shop, was won for the first time in four years by Daniel Ng.

Hj Hafneh won the `nearest to pin' for hole no.2, Othman Maidin (hole no.5), Pg Dato Hj Mustapha (hole no.12), Hj Damit (hole no.14) and Hj Salleh Abd Hamid (hole no. 11).

Fifty-eight senior golfers participated in the tournament organised by the Brunei Darussalam Association of Senior Golfers (BDASG). The trophies were sponsored by Sahabaz (Brunei) Co Sdn Bhd and BDASG.

The tournament also set as the selection programme for the association to select 18 top players to represent BDASG to take part in the 22nd Asean Senior Amateur Golf Championship in Kuala Lumpur from July 26-28.

The guest-of-honour Pg Dato Hj Abidin, President of BDASG welcomed some new members to the association in his welcoming speech and gave away the prizes to the winners. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
