Royal Honour For Malaysian
Commander

Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei
Darussalam yesterday consented to receive in audience the visiting
Commander of Malaysian Armed Forces Laksamana Dato Sri Mohd Anwar Hj
Mohd Nor.

During the audience at the Istana
Nurul Iman, His Majesty consented to honour the Commander with
`The Most Exalted Order ofPaduka Keberanian Laila Terbilang, l'
Class (D.P.K.T.)' conferring the title of Dato Paduka Seri.
Accompanying the Malaysian Armed
Forces Chief were Datuk Ali Abdullah, the Malaysian High
Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam.
Also in attendance were Commander
of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Pehin Datu Laila Raja Major General
Dato Paduka Seri Awg Hj Halbi Hj Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary
at the Prime Minister's Office Dato Paduka Hj Sulaiman Hj Ismail
and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Awg Hj
Mustappa Hj Sirat.
Laksamana Date Paduka Seri Dato'
Sri Mohd Anwar Hj Mohd Nor started his career in the Royal
Malaysian Navy as Navigating Officer of KD JERAI on December 16,
1970.

various postings at the Navy, were
as a member of Tim Project Action Speed Tactical Trainer, Head of
Training at the Tactical and Maritime, and PS 1 Inspectorate
General at Inspectorate General Section, Naval Base.
He was promoted to the rank of
captain on January 1, 1990 and was posted as the Commanding
Officer KD PELANDOK and later as the Navy Escort for the Paduka
Seri Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong IX and X. |
After completing his post at the
Istana Negara he was posted to the Royal Malaysian Navy, holding
various important posts such as Director of Communications and War. He
was promoted to the Laksamana rank in April 1, 1996 and was posted as
Inspector General at the Naval Base.
He was also the first senior Royal
Malaysian Navy officer to hold the post as the Commandant of the
Maktab Pertahanan Angkatan.Tentera.(MPAT). He was appointed as the
Commander of Malaysian Armed Forces on April 29, 2005.
Laksamana Dato Paduka Seri Dato' Sri
Mohd Anwar has attended various courses, among them Navigation and
Direction Course and Principal Warfare Officer course at HMS DRYAD and
International Defence Management at Naval Post Graduate School in the
United States as well as courses at Naval Staff College in US and
Joint Services Staff College in Australia.
On January 22, 2003, he was awarded
Master of Science in Engineering Business Management at University of
Warwick, the United Kingdom.
The Visiting Commander of Malaysian
Armed Forces and delegates will head home today. --
