Ghostly ‘Mobile’ Claims
By Azlan Othman

Bandar Seri Begawan - Recent ghostly tales may be giving a new ring to the dimension of the supernatural. For one, scary encounters are sent over the phone for the brave to view.

Another poses whether the spirits have gone hi-tech, people hearing a mobile ringing when nobody's phone has an incoming call.

Security personnel working on night shift and those who monitor the border don't pooh-pooh such phenomenon. As the haunting goes, some have heard a mobile phone ringing in the middle of the jungle when security personnel claim none of them received any incoming calls. Smugglers in the bushes being tipped oft, perhaps"

Otherwise, encounters with ghosts and flying vampires, or 'Pontianak' in Malay, are not restricted to the usual places tike the white sands along the Belait-Tutong highway, under big banyan trees or unoccupied houses, but also at the tertiary institution hostel and along the coastal highway itself.

Making the rounds among teenagers via mobile phone is the popular one being a woman with long hair sitting at a balcony behind a man who is posing for a picture. Villagers also claim to have seen apparitions at Kg. Rimba and in Tungku. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
