New Czech prime minister has a
double
Prague -
Tony Blair may have starred in the smash U.S. cartoon comedy "The
Simpsons" but his new Czech counterpart Jiri Paroubek actually looks
like one of its main characters, according to a Czech newspaper.
Czech tabloid Blesk published two
spot-the-difference photos side by side Tuesday - one showing a
smirking Paroubek and the other showing Joe Quimby, mayor of
Springfield in "The Simpsons".
"Paroubek has a double! What a
resemblance - it jumps out at everyone who compares these photos,"
exclaimed Blesk in a half-page article.
Not only does Paroubek bear an
uncanny resemblance to Quimby but like his cartoon counterpart he also
served on the city council, for four years as deputy mayor. At 52,
Paroubek is also just two years younger than Quimby.
Paroubek
was named prime minister by President Vaclav Klaus on Monday,
replacing Stanislav Gross who was forced to step down over a personal
financing scandal.
The new prime minister is no doubt
hoping the similarities end there. Quimby was referred to as an
"illiterate tax-cheating, wife-swapping, pot-smoking, spend-o-crat" by
the American TV show's radio host Birch Barlow.
An animated version of Blair made a
brief appearance on one episode of "The Simpsons" in 2003. --
