Repairing of bridge in Pekan Bangar

Mini Museum in Temburong

Temburong - Works are underway to upgrade all bridges in the Temburong District. Among the bridges currently under repair is the main bridge connecting old Bangar town to the present urban area.

The renovation project, which is under the Public Works Department, began in March. It covers all bridges in the Temburong District. Current work on the main bridge in Pekan Bangar involved replacing the old bailey to concrete structure.

Some $400,000 has been allocated for the renovation works budgeted under the 8th National Development Plan. Traffic is advised to proceed with care when using bridges that are under repair.

Meanwhile, the Temburong District has a new Exhibition Hall by next year enabling the district to display its historical artefacts.

The new building is located at the site of the former Temburong District Office in Pekan Bangar that has not been used since the 80s. Phase one of the project involving the demolition of walls and roof of the old building and cutting off the electricity supply is already underway.

However, the main structure of the building will be maintained. Phase two of the project is scheduled to be completed soon.

The building is scheduled to be ready for use next year. Among the facilities provided is a conference room for public and official use.

The mini museum will put on display a collection of artefacts, including handicrafts of various ethnic groups in the district. The former Temburong District Office used to be the centre of administration where all government offices were housed.   -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
