Projects To Kg Residents

Jetty at the Orang Kaya Pemancha
Berandai Primary School
Belait - The
Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) have carried out yet another charity
activity in their efforts to assisting Kampong residents in the
Sultanate.
One such activity was the
construction of a jetty at Kampong Bukit Sawat in the Belait District
designed for the people, particularly the pupils of the school in the
vicinity.
Yesterday, the newly completed jetty
at the Orang Kaya Pemancha Berandai Primary School in Kampong Bukit
Sawat in Ulu Belait was handed over to the Ministry of Education.
The commander of the Royal Brunei
Services Force, Pehin Datu Colonel Haji Mohammad Yusof handed over the
project to a representative from the director of Planning and Estate
Management Department at the Ministry of Education, Awang Anuar.
The $6,000 jetty for the primary
school was one of the ongoing projects of the Third Battalion of the
Royal Brunei Land Forces. The construction of the 45-meter long jetty
took 10 days to complete with 15 members of the assault pioneer from
the Third Battalion of the Royal Brunei
With the new jetty, residents of
Kampong Bukit Wawat, especially the pupils can enjoy a more
comfortable and safer facility when compared with the old jetty.
According to the kampong residents,
during the downpour season or high tide, the water level from the
river overflows, submerging the old jetty.
Most of the pupils studying at the
primary school come from several kampongs in the rural areas, such as
Kampong Pengkalan Siong and Kampong Merudi where boats are the only
means of transportation. -- Courtesy
