A total of 113 foreign workers from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and the Philippines were inspected during a raid on Wednesday night by the Kuala Belait Immigration Enforcement officials. Five Thais and two Indian workers were issued with a special pass after failing to produce documents during the ambush, pertaining to their stay in Brunei.

The raid codename "Operasi Benteras 29" was conducted by 12 KB Immigration officials led by Chief Immigration Officer Awg Sulaiman bin Hj Hidup.

Five rented houses and working quarters in Kg Sg Tali, Kg Sg Bakong, Kg Sg Bakong Selatan in Lumut and Jalan Jaya Negara in KB were targeted during the raid which started at 10.30pm and ended at 1am.

The operation was to conduct inspection at the residence and rental houses of foreign workers, to ensure that they did not breach the Immigration Act and Rules following previous arrest for offences such as overstaying, runaway workers and other related offences.
