Dikir Brunei Launched To Preserve
Cultural Heritage

Tutong - The
Mosque Affairs Department is conducting the Dikir Brunei at selected
mosques in Brunei's four districts to encourage Muslims to practise
and be well versed in the Dikir.
Dikir Brunei is a valuable cultural
heritage of the Malays that should be preserved and be continuously
practised especially among the young generations.
The activity coincides with the
celebration marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
A delegation from the Ministry of
Religious Affairs led by Pehin Dato Dr Ustaz Awang Haji Mohd Zain on
Tuesday night visited the Kampong Penanjung Mosque in the Tutong
District.
The mosque officials presented a
Dikir, which was assessed by the visiting delegation in terms of
style, content and verses as well as other related matters pertaining
to the presentation of a Dikir Brunei.
Currently, there are five categories
of Dikir that are being practised by Bruneians. These are the
Khairuman, Bishahrin, Tanaqal, Alham and Badat.
