A family in Kg Kuala Lurah was made homeless when their house was
destroyed by a fire. The house belonging to Dayang Rauyah Mat Yassin
was destroyed in a fire which occurred around 8.30am last Monday.
According to her, she was selling
vegetables at her vegetable stall in Mulaut, Kilanas when she received
a call from her husband about the fire.
Her husband was out at work while her
two children were sleeping when the fire broke out.
Her mother Dayang Jambul Mahal, 70,
was shocked to see plumes of smoke coming from the kitchen of the
house and she immediately woke up her grandchildren telling them to
escape from the fire. The fire spread rapidly and therefore they
didn't have time to save anything.
Fire personnel from the Jerudong Fire
Station rushed to the scene and it took them 15 minutes to put the
fire out.
Although the house was completely
destroyed, there was no loss of life reported.
Present to inspect the scene of the
fire were the Brunei-Muara District Officer, Dato Haji Harun and the
Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Dato Awg Hj
Abd Ghani Hj Abd Rahim.
Dayang Rauyah and family are staying
temporarily at her mother's house nearby.
