Livewire Offers Cash To Young
Businessmen

Begawan - Cash prize of more than $33,000 is up for grab in the
Livewire Awards 2003. The launching of the competition was held this
morning at the Empire Hotel and Country Club.
Livewire Awards 2003 is a business
competition for young people in the country. Prior to the launching, a
signing on the joint sponsorship agreement between the two sponsors of
the awards was held.
Deputy managing director of BSP,
Awang Haji Zainal Abidin signed on behalf of Brunei Shell Petroleum
Sdn., while Mr. Marcus hurry, HSBC's CEO for the bank.
The sponsorship of the awards between
the two companies is seen as a demonstration of their commitment
towards corporate social responsibility for the development of the
local people especially among the younger generation. The annual
awards has been held since 2001, the awards are designed to give
recognition and reward to young people who are successful in a
business activity and to promote them as role models for the young
generation to follow. It is open only to Brunei citizens.

obtained from Livewire Brunei in the capital or any HSBC's branches.
The closing date is 20 October 2003.
Meanwhile, for the young people in
Brunei, the Livewire awards is an excellent opportunity to participate
in an activity that will test their ability, adaptability and skills
while promoting themselves and their businesses/ business ideas.
Besides winning attractive prizes, the competition provides a chance
to gain recognition for the participants.
Livewire is a programme developed by
Shell to support youth development and specifically to help young
people to become interested in setting up business and in working for
them.
Awang Haji Zainal Abidin said that
the main reason in financing Livewire Brunei is to encourage
entrepreneurship's development in the country.
HSBC Brunei is the joint sponsor of
Livewire Awards 2003.
Its CEO, Mr Marcus Hurry said that it
is part of the rank's strategy to support S-M-E in the country where
