Drug abuser fined $1,500

The Magistrates' Court yesterday fined a drug abuser $1,500 or three months in jail in default after he pleaded guilty to consuming Syabu. NCB prosecuting officer Pg Othman Pg Hj Ali said that Asmawi Ismail was arrested by officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at a residence in Kg Kota Batu on February 8, 2002.

Asmawi was ordered to undergo a urine re-test where he will be brought again for further mention regarding the results of the urine re-test on July 24, 2003 before Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri.
