Brunei's envoy to India wins
Ambassador's Cup Kashmir
By Rosli Abidin Yahya The High
Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to India Awg Hj Ghafar bin Hj Ismail
emerged as the winner in the individual category of the first
Ambassador's Cup Kashmir 2003 held at the picturesque Royal Springs
golf course in Srinagar on May 19. The field included 10 envoys from
different countries and CEOs from the top corporate houses of the
country.
The tournament, the first of its
kind, was arranged via the efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir
government.
It was organised to help promote the
tourism industry of the state, which has been badly hit over the past
few years because of terrorism and tension surrounding the
India-Pakistan border.
The team comprising Biritos (the
Ambassador of Argentina) and Ambassador of Spain Don Rafael Conde
lifted the gold cup for the best team.
The duo of Madhu Misra and Ulf
Nordqvist bagged the team honours in the non-diplomatic category,
involving corporate honchos, with Najamus Saqib and Lennart Johansson
finishing second.
