Sultan to visit Penang for talks
with Mahathir
KUALA LUMPUR
(AP/Bernama) - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam will visit Malaysia this weekend for talks with
Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, the foreign ministry said Thursday.
His Majesty will arrive Friday and stay for three days, holding
discussions with Mahathir in the northern island state of Penang, the
ministry said in a statement.
Both leaders are expected to discuss
issues of mutual concern as well as areas of cooperation to enhance
relations between Malaysia and Brunei, the Foreign Ministry statement
added.
The two countries have long-standing
good relations and are joint signatories to regional trade and
security agreements.
Penang's Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun
Abdul Rahman Abbas will host a dinner for His Majesty and his
delegation. His Majesty will also visit the Penang Development
Corporation and Bukit Bendera hill resort.
