Local Paintings At Oil and Gas
Discovery Centre
Seria -
Local artists have been given support and promotion as part of
continued efforts by relevant agencies in encouraging them to be more
creative in the world of art.
In the Belait District, the Oil and
Gas Discovery Centre and the Brunei Association for Artists have
jointly organised a two-week showcase.
More than 25 local artists are taking
part in the exhibition which serves as a platform form the to promote
their workmanship and local arts among Bruneians.
The Deputy Managing director of
Brunei Shell Petroleum, Awang Haji Zainal Abidin, officially opened
the exhibition, which displays more than 60 paintings this afternoon.
Pengiran Mohammad Roslan, an artist,
who started drawing since his school days, told Radio Television
Brunei (RTB) that his interest is in soft pastel technique painting.
At this exhibition, he is displaying
his painting, which carries the theme 'Tiga Sekawan'.
Another painter, Awang Haji Padzil,
said he is a realistic painter and has started drawing since late
sixties. He told RTB that his latest work entitled 'senja di Pantai
Muara', took him more than two weeks to complete.
He used oil and knife technique to
produce his paintings.
The exhibition, which is taking place
at the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre in Seria, is open to the public
from Tuesday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm.
The exhibition is also open on
Fridays and Sundays from 10am until 6pm. --
