Study Subjects That Fit Jobs Offered Says Human Resources Head

Bandar Seri Begawan - Students in Brunei during their time in school should consider subjects needed when they eventually go to higher institutions.

The Head Human Resources Relations and Services of the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sendirian Berhad Awang Hj Mohd Zaini said this at the launching the 11th Explomaths 2003.

He said that it was important for students to do so since the country needs to produce human resources according to its future requirements.

He added the problems of unemployment and difficulties in getting a job among graduates are more or less due to the irrelevancy of their academic qualifications to the job offered.

In meeting the demands in this era of globalisation and high-technology environment, more professionals were needed in developing the nation.

The grand final of a Mathematics Quiz for primary schools was also held.

The Chung Hwa School won it after beating Saint George's School.

93 primary schools, including non-government schools took part in the competition.

This year's Explomaths, which carries the theme "Exploring mathematics through ICT", aimed at promoting mathematics as an interesting and important subject and to increase students' awareness on the use of ICT in mathematics.
