Parking woes at Kg Sungai Kebun

The parking lot at Kg. Sungai Kebun
is creating logistic problems to people who wish to access the area as
vehicles are mindlessly parked by the owners. The cars are parked in a
disorderly manner, blocking the access of other vehicles as well as
the entry and exit routes. A bus stand post has lost its purpose as
the designated area for bus stops have been blocked by vehicles parked
inside its area and this inevitably forces bus drivers to make their
stops elsewhere thus creating more congestion in the area. It is also
blocked by a rubbish collection point, a utility that the government
has provided for the benefit of Kg. Sungai Kebun's residents. It is a
small area fenced by iron railings where the residents can dispose of
their domestic rubbish for collection and further disposal. However it
shares the same fate as the bus stand post of having lost its purpose,
as the residents do not make use of it. The iron railings are not in
good condition as the paint has chipped off and a bar is missing.
Residents urged that it be removed to make more space for parking
vehicles.
The irresponsible parking situation
in Kg. Sungai Kebun also poses a fire safety hazard as the vehicles
also block access route to the fire station. In an emergency
situation, the fire personnel will have a tough time trying to find
the owners of the vehicles and in doing so waste time to reach the
destination.
Relevant authorities are urged to
improve the parking situation in Kg. Sungai Kebun by designating a
proper area where vehicles can be parked and to discourage vehicle
owners from parking haphazardly and abandoning their vehicles. It is
hoped that Kg. Sungai Kebun will bear a beautiful and clean image
instead of looking like a dumping area.
