vital to career

Resources Services, delivering his speech at the 11th eXPLOMATHS 2003
Students have been urged to analyse
and make the right choice about the subjects or courses they will take
at higher learning institutions in the country or overseas. This is
imperative as Brunei is required to generate useful human resources in
the future who can stimulate the development of the economy and the
country.
This was disclosed by Awang Haji Mohd
Zaini bin Haji Awang Omar, Head of Relations and Human Resources
Services of Brunei Shell Petroleum, while he spoke as the chief guest
at the launch of the 11th eXPLOMATHS 2003.
The event was held at Sultan Sharif
Ali Secondary School yesterday.
Unemployment and difficulties in
getting a job among the school-leavers and graduates may be due to
inappropriate academic qualification in relation to job availability.
In order to meet the needs of globalisation and the high technology
environment, Brunei requires more professional manpower and
technocrats who could stimulate the development of the country.
He said that in "ICT", the
letter " I " stands for interaction among the students with
the computer whereby information and knowledge can be gained.
Interaction requires students to implement their work directly and to
solve the problems provided by the computer.
The letter " C " stands for
communication whereby it is a dual process that involves students and
software programme.
The letter " T " is when
the students would have the experience of tactile feeling or a touch
of a new equipment such as modern technology.
