Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Magistrate's Court sentenced a 22-year-old local
woman who pleaded guilty to consuming methamphetamine for the second
time in 1999, to three years' jail on Saturday.
The Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB)
prosecutor explained that Rina Mariyanti Abdul Jalil's case was
delayed because she failed to report to the NCB office and NCB
officers could not track her because she was no longer staying at her
previous address.
However, she was arrested four days
ago at her friend's house in Kg Saba Darat, the prosecutor said.
Facts of the case stated that a team
of NCB officers conducted a raid at house No. 74 in Jalan 3, Kg
Perpindahan Rimba, which resulted in the arrest of 14 persons, 12
males and two females. One of them was identified as her.
A search was made on the house but
the officers did not find any drugs or utensils used for consuming
drugs belonging to the defendant. However she admitted to having
consumed the drugs.
Her urine sample tested positive for
the drug.
According to the NCB prosecutor, she
first committed the offence on August 5, 1996 and was convicted on
April 27, 1998. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
