More Money For Palestinians From Tutong People

Tutong - Tutong District has donated nearly $31,700 to the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund.

The proceeds came from government organisations, privates firms, associations and individuals in Tutong District.

The donation was presented on Saturday night to the Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Haji Yusof bin Pengiran Kula.

It was presented during the 'malam Amal Puisirama Sumbangsihku', a special function aimed at collecting money for the fund.

The Tutong District Officer, who is also co chairman of the Palestinian People Humanitarian Fund said the response from the public was very encouraging.

The size of the amount, he said was a positive sign of the country's commitment in providing aid to other Muslim community in the world.

The night's function collected more than $12,000 and there was a charity poem reading.

Among the readers was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahim Brunei's Ambassador To Japan, who is known as Yura Halim, the writer.

The Deputy Minister of Religious Affair, Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Yahya Haji Ibrahim whose penname is Yahya M.S. also presented his poem. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
