Government's $7 Billion For
Development Highlighted

Begawan - The government has allocated some B$7 billion in the
Eight National Development Plan, which covers infrastructure, economy,
education, health, religious and social.
The Permanent Secretary at the Prime
Minister's Office Dato Haji Hazair yesterday said at gathering with
residents of Mukim Lumapas yesterday.
Dato Haji Hazair said the government
of His Majesty for the last two years have allocated $1 billon a year.
In an effort to develop the economy
and boost the development of Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) in the
country, the government has allocated $200 million in 2001 under the
Short Term Economic Recovery Scheme.
Last year, $50 million were set aside
for the start-up Capital Credit Fund to help SMEs entrepreneurs set up
their business.
Through the Brunei Info-Technology
Council, two committees have also been formed, the e-government
executive committee and the e-commerce committee.
The government allocated nearly a
billion dollar towards the implementation of the e-government, which
he said would provide job opportunities for locals.
The gathering was held at the
Business Complex, Menjalin Sport and Recreation Complex, Sungai Kebun.
