The Royal Brunei Police Force, Internal Security, Labour, Immigration and Marine Department, yesterday joined forces with the Fisheries Department in an operation codenamed "Kembura 7", which was initiated by the Fisheries Department. The operation focused on fishermen operating through the Cendera Kenangan Kuala Belait and the Belait Fisheries Centre jetty where the objectives of the operation was to warn and enforce the prohibition of fishing activities 500 metres at all oil platforms, under the Merchant Shipping Order 2002 of Marine Act and the Fisheries Act Section 61.

It also aimed to ensure fishermen were aware of such prohibition, to ensure companies abide the Labour and Immigration Act and not misuse the foreign workers as well as to make sure fishermen did not contravene the Fisheries and Internal Security Act and Regulations, such as using explosives and poisonous substances for the purpose of catching fish.
