Australians Fly In For Education
Exhibitions
By Ignatius Stephen
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Representatives from ten leading Australian
Universities and Colleges fly in to Brunei today to attend IDP's
Education Exhibitions to be held in Seria on Sunday and in Gadong on
Monday.
Similar exhibitions due to be held in
Singapore and Malaysia have had to be cancelled due to the Sars
outbreak. The Australian Government have issued warnings to the
affected countries.
However, their travel to Brunei has
been approved because of Brunei's excellent preventative measures
against Sars which has ensured Brunei is considered a safe
destination.
Direct flights from Australia to
Brunei by Royal Brunei Airlines have also been a positive factor as it
means the representatives don't have to transit elsewhere.
Representatives from leading
Australian universities such as Bond, Southern Queensland, La Trobe,
Victoria, Newcastle, South Australia and Canberra College will be at
the exhibitions to offer advice on the degree courses available as
well as to answer any questions students may have about studying in
Australia generally.
For students wanting to pursue their
career through skills training, representatives from institutes and
colleges specialising in vocational courses will also be on hand to
answer questions and offer guidance on which program to choose.
Distance learning courses are also
available for some programs and are especially useful for those in
employment who wish to gain further qualifications such as an MBA.
The Education Exhibitions will be
held in Seria tomorrow (Sunday) May 18 at the Oil & Gas Discovery
Centre (OODC) from 1pm - 5pm and on Monday May 19 at Seameo Voctech,
Jalan Pasar Baharu, Gadong from 2pm - 7pm.
Admission Is FREE and IDP look
forward to welcoming students and their parents to the exhibitions.
