PWD To Take Immediate Measures To
Repair Damaged Roads Everywhere
Bandar Seri Begawan - The
Public Works Department (PWD) always take active measures in efforts
to improve and maintain Brunei roads that are damaged. Such ongoing
steps will ensure comfort and safety of road users in the country.
The government, through the Public
Works Department, has taken note about the road situation stretching
along Kampong Lumapas to Kampong Sungai Kebun.
Maintenance work on the specific
stretch of road is in line with the concern of the department in
addressing problems under its jurisdiction, PWD spokesman said.
The department also takes appropriate
initiatives in making technical analysis on any proposed road
renovations.
Similar analysis has already been
carried out for Jalan Junjungan approved by the government and will be
implemented under the 8th National Development Plan.
The PWD expects the repair works that
will commence in September will take about 30 months to complete.
The maintenance work will involve
widening the existing road, stabilizing and reinforcing damaged road
side table, as well as improving the drainage system along the road.
Currently, the PWD is engaged in
temporary maintenance works at various places which are deemed
critical and that the repair works are expected to be completed by the
end of this month.
According to the Penghulu of Mukim
Lumapas, Awang Haji Bakar Bin Mansor the stretch of road in his
Kampong has been damaged for quite some time. Mukim Lumapas is made up
of ten villages and is home to more than 5000 people. --
