Man To Pay For Hurting Wife

Bandar Seri Begawan - After a full trial, a local man was convicted of causing voluntarily hurt to his wife and was fined a total of $2,000 by the Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The Deputy Public Prosecutor, DPP Hjh Najwa said that Latif Hj Kasim, the defendant, had allegedly abused his wife and was tried in a full trial where he faced two charges under section 323 of the Penal Code.

The court imposed a $1,000 fine yesterday on each charge.

The Senior Magistrate ordered for Latif to be jailed for two months if he should fail to pay the fines imposed being a default sentence of one month for each charge.
