Youth Fined For Consuming 'Syabu'

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 19-year-old local man was fined $1,500 or three month's jail in default by Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri yesterday when he pleaded guilty to a drug offence in the Magistrate's Court.

Before passing the sentence, Magistrate Hj Abdullah warned Rudy Saffry Awang Umar, a first offender, not to commit the offence for the second time as a second offender under section 6(b) can be sentenced to a minimum of three years jail.

Rudy Saffry was fined after he admitted to consuming Methylamphetamine or locally known as 'Syabu' while undergoing a supervision programme at the Narcotics Control Bureau.
