More books have been donated to the

Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam (TECOBD) donated two
sets of 15 books to the Language Centre of UBD.
It was held at UBD's Administration
Building.
Dr. Hj Ismail bin Hj Duraman, Vice
Chancellor of UBD, expressed his great appreciation to the
representative of TECOBD, Mr. James Chu, who presented the books on
behalf of TECOBD.
Also present were Datin Hajjah Rosnan
Hj Ramly, Director of UBD's Language Centre (Faculty of Languages) as
well as officers from both the university and TECOBD.
The fifteen books, written in the
Mandarin language consist of these following topics: 'Old Taiwan' (by
pictures), 'Taiwan History' (by pictures), 'Taiwan Folk Stories',
'Songs and Dances of Taiwan's Indigenous Tribes', 'Story of Taiwan's
Folk Songs', 'Taiwan novels in Chinese and English', 'Taiwan Four
Season Encyclopaedia' (for children), 'Taiwan Train', 'Taiwan foods',
'National Parks of Taiwan', 'Wild Flowers of Taiwan', 'The Flowers of
Taiwan's Cities', 'Dictionary of Taiwanese Dialect', 'Comics of Taiwan
History', and 'Island in the Stream'.
"These books can be used as a
reference book or reading materials for those students who are
interested in the past history or present development of Taiwan,"
Mr. James Chu explained.
"The books shall provide
profound information about the history, scenery, folksongs, customs
and food of Taiwan," he added.
He also gave a brief detail about his
homeland, saying that "Taiwan is a highly developed country
whereby, Taiwan was a rural economy 50 years ago.
Now, it's a strong and dynamic
industrial country, which is ranked as the 14th largest trading
country and the 19th largest economy in the world today."
Taiwan with the population of about
23 million is now a major manufacturer of products related to textile,
petrochemical and information technology industries.
He hopes that the students of UBD
will find the books interesting and useful.
