About 8000 people from various
government departments, private, vocational and government schools,
mosque officials, as well as the private sector in the Kuala Belait
district gathered at the KBRC field yesterday morning to participate
in a parade to celebrate the Maulud Nabi or the Birthday of Prophet
Muhammad for the year 1424 Hijrah. The theme for this year's Maulud
Nabi celebration was "Bangsa Berilmu Negara Maju Berteraskan
Wahyu." The Chief Guest in the celebration was the Deputy
Minister of Home Affairs, Dato Paduka Hj Adanan bin Pehin Dato Hj Mohd
Yusof, who led the Maulud parade for the Kuala Belait district
yesterday morning.
The celebration began with the Quran
recital by Awg Abd Qayyum bin Hj Aminuddin, the winner of the Youth
Al-Quran Competition in Belait District this year, and then proceeded
with a speech by the Belait District Officer Awg Adnan bin Hanafiah.
The Maulud Nabi celebration continued
with a "Dikir Marhaban" performance by the Kuala Belait
Mosque Dikir group, led by Ak Hidayat Rabiel Awal bin Pg Rosli.
Dato Paduka Hj Adanan was then
introduced to the leader of each team in the parade. He later
presented certificates of participation to the leaders.
The chief guest then led the mass
parade of about 53 teams, passing through Jalan Maulana and along
Jalan Bunga Raya around the Kuala Belait town, before returning to the
KBRC field.
