Man missing after saving son at Lumut pond

A man went missing and feared drowned after saving his son at a Lumut by-pass pond. In the 2pm incident yesterday, the man along with four other people including his son were fishing on a boat when suddenly the boat capsized when it was hit by strong currents.

They were thrown into the water.

The man saw his son in danger and pushed him back into the boat.

However, he disappeared underwater.

The other people were able to save themselves by hanging onto the boat.

Fire Services officials said that they received a call regarding the missing man at around 5 pm.

Twenty personnel from the Seria Fire Services Department and the Diving Unit from Berakas Fire Services Department went to the scene to search for the missing man.

At press time, the man was yet to be found.
