Keep Environment Clean Say Organisers

Bandar Seri Begawan - Islam encourages its followers to keep the environment where they live and work always immaculate and beautiful. The message is clearer in the current situation where the deadly Sars virus is threatening lives.

The habit of keeping the environment clean should be practiced by every member of the community, regardless of whether they are living in private homes of government quarters, a local competition organiser said.

In promoting a greater sense of cleanliness, a landscape competition is being held in conjunction with the 57th birthday anniversary of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Dipertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The competition is divided into ten categories. It is open to the national housing scheme occupiers and the landless scheme for the indigenous, public residences, government quarters and Brunei Shell houses. Schools, buildings belonging to the government and private firms, mosques and suraus are also allowed to take part.

Entry forms are available at the Town and Country Planning Office in the Belait District. Closing date for submitting the forms is May 29.  -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
