Brunei Student's Health Protection
Enhanced
Bandar Seri Begawan - The Education
Ministry in conjunction with the Ministry of Health has taken measures
in ensuring students and others do not contract the Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome, Sars.
One measure implemented is the
cleaning campaign against Sars for schools, colleges and seats of
higher learning. Such a campaign was held at several schools in the
Tutong district.
The deputy permanent secretary at the
Education Ministry, Datin Paduka Hajah Jahrah, launched the project at
the Tutong Pertama School.
In giving their school a face-lift in
a concerted effort the students learned the meaning of teamwork, the
importance of maintaining a clean environment as well as good personal
hygiene in combating contagious diseases such as sars.
The hard work by the students and
their teachers in cleaning up the compound and areas of the school has
paid off.
During the visit, the deputy
Permanent Secretary and delegation took a closer look at the
facilities there. They toured the classrooms and the school's canteen.
The campaign is to ensure that the students comprehend the importance
of maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness of the surrounding
area where they study.
The Muda Hashim Secondary School,
Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Pengiran Dipa Negara Pengiran Jaya
Primary School in Sengkarai, Pengiran Muda Mahkota Primary School in
Kuala Tutong and the Tutong Camp Primary School also conducted similar
projects. --
