Brunei Student's Health Protection Enhanced

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Education Ministry in conjunction with the Ministry of Health has taken measures in ensuring students and others do not contract the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Sars.

One measure implemented is the cleaning campaign against Sars for schools, colleges and seats of higher learning. Such a campaign was held at several schools in the Tutong district.

The deputy permanent secretary at the Education Ministry, Datin Paduka Hajah Jahrah, launched the project at the Tutong Pertama School.

In giving their school a face-lift in a concerted effort the students learned the meaning of teamwork, the importance of maintaining a clean environment as well as good personal hygiene in combating contagious diseases such as sars.

The hard work by the students and their teachers in cleaning up the compound and areas of the school has paid off.

During the visit, the deputy Permanent Secretary and delegation took a closer look at the facilities there. They toured the classrooms and the school's canteen. The campaign is to ensure that the students comprehend the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness of the surrounding area where they study.
