Gifted Interior Designer Meets With Untimely End By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - A foreign architect from the Philippines waved goodbye to his caring boss, office and his workmates, and friends in Brunei a fortnight ago as he boarded an aircraft to Manila for his annual leave.

He hoped to come back to renew his contract but alas death came knocking as he perished with 12 others in a freak self accident in the Quezon Province last week.

Edgar Junio, in his 40s died with all other passengers when the vehicle he was in overshot from a mountain road and landed on a ravine.

The thirteen of them were said to be relatives on a journey home after attending a wedding of their relative, also at Quezon province.

The qualified architect had been working in Brunei for the past six years as a personal designer of a leading local businessman here.

He had designed the interior of many establishments owned by the businessman.

Before he returned home, he was working on a big project in Jangsak where he was the chief designer.

The multi-variety park in Jangsak is to offer extra curricular activities for the public including fishing, biking, jogging and walking.

The park is said to be in early construction phase and is located in a valley.

His office mates and friends in Brunei were shocked to hear his untimely death a few days ago.

A Flipino hairdresser said Edgar designed the interior part of a Gadong salon where he worked.

"Edgar was a nice person and I was here while he supervised the renovation of this salon according to his design.

"Upon learning of his death in the Philippines I could not imagine how the world can afford lose such a pleasant, talented and artistic man who had made people gasp in exhilaration because of his unique designs," he said.

Another Filipina waitress in Gadong said Edgar used to spend his free time sipping a cup of tea there pointing to Edgar's favourite place.

Edgar left a wife and two children in Manila.
