The rapid development in technology
has prompted the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board to introduce
innovative measures in bringing the people closer with the progress.
The department embraced the concept of flipboards in assimilating
information to the public in a more sophisticated and creative way.
According to the Chairman of the
municipal board, Awang Haji Saji bin Haji Mudin, his department has
played a part in changing the concept of signboards in line with the
rapid growth of high quality technologies.
He said this during the launching of
flipboards built by Sunlit Advertising Company at the Jubli Perak
Parking Lot at Jalan Pusar Ulak yesterday morning.
He said the change from the
conventional signboards into flipboards requires high costs. At the
initial stage, several sky billboards and flipboards would be built by
Sunlit Advertising Company, following the endorsement of a contract by
the municipal board.
He said the installation of the
flipboards within the municipal area is aimed at providing a
systematic way of conventional advertising, besides upgrading the
format into a modern method.
"The new eye-catching look will
also provide convenience to the general public, especially in
facilitation travellers and tourists to their destinations."
Awang Haji Saji said that the
erecting and building of signboards, banners and conventional
billboards in the country are controlled by the law and regulations of
the government and the municipal board has been keeping a close eye on
the building and placement of signboards, billboards and banners in
the capital.
On putting up advertisement on the
flipboards, he said the public must go through the proper procedure
and to approach the designated advertising company approved by the
municipal board as well as to get approval from the municipal board.
He added that Sunlit Advertising
Company has been given the permission to handle and manage the
application of advertisement from interested parties. For those who
are caught for putting up advertisement without permission, action
will be taken against them.
The Managing Director of Sunlit
Advertising, Awang Haji Mohammad bin Abu Bakar, said the launching of
the flip boards was aimed at beautifying the capital as well as
providing information and educating the public through advertisements.
Also present at the ceremony were
senior officials from the municipal board, Pehin Onn, Jackson Ting and
Mr Ang Swee Chuan.
