Mass gathering, processions for
Maulidur Rasul
Brunei Darussalam will observe
Maulidur Rasul, the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad the Last
Messenger, on Wednesday. The celebration will be held simultaneously
in the four districts with mass gatherings and processions, RTB
reported. The focal point of the national Maulidur Rasul celebration
is the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddin in the capital.
The gathering and the procession
involves ministries, government departments, uniformed and youth
associations, institutions from the private sector, schools and the
mukim and kampung consultation councils.
The final rehearsal was held
yesterday morning, which included the Dikir Marhaban by
representatives from the Prime Minister's Office.
It was conducted in the presence of
the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja
Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Hj Awang Mohd Zain, the executive chairman of
the organising committee.
If it rains heavily on the actual day
for two-hours, the committee said the programme would then have to be
changed. The procession in Bandar Seri Begawan would be cancelled but
other pre-arranged programmes would be carried out as scheduled.
Meanwhile, a gathering of the Women
Council marking Maulidur Rasul is to be held on May 22, at the
International Convention Centre in Berakas. Similarly, the gathering
will take place at the Municipal Hall in Kuala Belait, the Civic
Centre in Tutong and the Civic Centre in Pekan Bangar, Temburong.
RTN will be broadcasting the national
celebration in the capital live.
The theme for this year's celebration
is "Negara Maju, Bangsa Berilmu Berteraskan Wahyu".
