More Locals Acquire Qualifications
In Oil Shipping Industry
Seria -
Brunei can now feel proud as more local people acquired qualifications
in the various sectors of the oil and gas industry, a Radio Television
Brunei report said yesterday.
Some 15 trainees from the Brunei
Shell Tanker Sdn Bhd (BST) received their certificates yesterday after
having completed their Standards of Training and Certification for
Watch-keepers (STCW '95) and Pre-sea Safety Training.
The Maritime Training, which began
last Monday, had four mandatory Basic Pre-sea courses that meet STCW
'95 standard.
They were personal survival
techniques, basic fire prevention and fire fighting, elementary first
aid and personal safety and social responsibilities.
The MEGAMAS Company was incorporated
in 1989 in Brunei. It is the first safety-training establishment to
manage an integrated safety-training centre in the sultanate.
It was accredited by the ISO 9002, as
a leading provider of health safety environment and emergency response
training courses to the oil and gas industry and various government
departments and agencies.
To date some 60,000 people from
various industries in the region have received training from the
