IEE technical talk at SEAMEO
VOCTECH

Keeping abreast with modern
technologies is one of the many aims of the IEE committee members of
Brunei Branch since its inauguration in 1997 as mentioned by Terry
Douglas Jayasuriya who presided the IEE Talk in SEAMEO VOCTECH
Saturday night. Consisting of around 120 members, including
individuals with technical backgrounds as well as technical students,
the committee of IEE in Brunei constantly organises programmes to
update its members with study visits and technical talks by keeping in
touch through e-mails.
The technical talk organised by IEE
(B) was presented by two speakers: Mr Bernard J Baker from EIM
Controls UK, Ltd on 'MOV Actuators & Controls- Use of Modern
Communication Protocols' and Mr George Chong from TARCO Engineering,
Canada on 'Programmable Logic Controllers-Built in Human Machine
Interface'.
To start off with the session Hj
Sapawi bin Hj Bolhassan, Chairman of IEE Brunei Berhad gave his
opening speech in which he extended his gratitude to the speakers who
came as well as the response from all the participants to make the
talk session possible.
Participants who attended the lecture
included several individuals from Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd,
Department of Technical Services (DES), Lucent Technologies, ITB and
RTB.
During the whole session, all the
participants were also able to ask several questions related to the
topic of each speaker.
