In conjunction with Earth Day 2003, a
public campaign to beautify the Muara Beach was organised by the
Department of Environment, Parks and Recreations of the Ministry of
Development. Officiating as the guest of honour was Her Royal Highness
Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah. The campaign began with an
aerobic session.
The objective of this campaign was to
create a sense of awareness amongst the officers and staff of the
department of the importance to look after the recreational park and
places like the Muara Beach from damage and pollution. This was also
an opportunity for officers and staff of the Department of Environment
to foster and extend close working relations.
This public campaign was held in
conjunction with Earth Day, which falls on April 22 every year.
The highlight of this year's Earth
Day celebration was the quiz programme, which was broadcast over the
radio on April 22 on Rangkaian Nasional, Pelangi and Pilihan and the
campaign to beautify the Muara Beach.
The Department of Environment
encourages the public or any private organisation to cooperate in
terms of providing the facilities at the recreational park and at the
beach for the comfort of the visitors and tourists alike.
Later, the guest of honour presented
the prizes to all the winners of the Earth Day quiz.
Also present at the campaign were the
Deputy Permanent Secretary, Deputy Head Director, Assistant Director
as well as the head of departments and head units.
The theme garden of "Lets work
together in safeguarding our environment" was officiated at the
end of the ceremony.
