Prince to address economic
conference
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed
Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will deliver an address on
Economic Opportunities for Brunei Darussalam at the opening dinner of
a national economic conference organised by Asia Inc Forum to be held
this coming July 1 and 2. The opening dinner is to be held at the
International Convention Centre in Berakas. Sessions will continue the
next day at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, according to a press
release from Asia Inc.
"We are deeply honoured that His
Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah has consented to address the
conference. We look forward to hearing His Royal Highness' views on
what lies ahead for Brunei's economy which I am sure will be extremely
valuable for the business community," said Mr Timothy Ong,
Chairman of Asia Inc.
The conference will also include a
number of panel discussions on issues of national economic importance.
Sessions include a way ahead for economic diversification and the
challenges of implementation, a look at how we can maximise spin-offs
to local businesses, and a session exploring how we can tackle
unemployment effectively. A speaker from Dubai will also share his
insight into the "Dubai way", highlighting how Dubai has
successfully diversified its economy away from its dependence on oil
and gas. Further information and the programme can be found on their
website at www.asiaincforum.com.
The conference has received the
strong backing of the local business community including bodies such
as the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam and
the Brunei Darussalam International Chamber of Commerce and Industry
who have endorsed the conference and are supporting organisations.
To register for the conference, visit
their website or contact the secretariat at 222-6555 or via e-mail at
